1964 AC 289 Cobra

One documented owner from new until 1999... this is an exceptionally original car with 49,000 miles. Owned by Mr. Joe LaRose from 1964 until his passing in 1999, then owned by Ford employee and Cobra afficionado Mark Winkleman who undertook a minor, sympathetic restoration. Only paint, leather and carpets were done.. everything else is original and immaculate. Indeed, painstaking efforts were made to preserve the originality of the car. This is a late car with rack and pinion steering; it has never been raced, modified or abused in any way.

Documentation includes lots of service receipts along with the original invoice from AC Cars to Shelby American and from Shelby to the selling dealer, Lynch-Davidson Ford in Jacksonville Florida. It is # csx2541 listed in the SAAC registry.

The A.C Cobra cars are among the most memorable and recognizable cars in history. After the bristol power plant was discontinued in the early 1960's Texan-based Carroll Shelby dropped a lightweight Ford V8 engine into the engine bay and took it racing. The 260 cid, then 289 cid, and finally the 427 version made the Cobra legendary.
